At the helm of this business, Andy Madden offers a wealth of 35 plus years experience and extensive knowledge in ship operations, marine surveys, casualty investigations and maritime audits on all commercial vessel types.
Working as an independent or alongside A.M. Marine Surveys' pool of hand picked first class maritime professionals, we will provide you with a dynamic and experienced solution to whatever maritime challenges and objectives you wish to achieve.
Andy's professional qualifications include a Master of Science (MSc) in Engineering and Management, a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Maritime Law, a Bachelors of Laws ( LL.B Hons) in English law, a Master of Laws (LL.M) in U.S. Laws, Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Marine Engineer (CMarEng), Licensed UK MCA Chief Engineer (unlimited tonnage), Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers, Science and Technology (FIMarEST), Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (FRINA), Member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying (MIIMS), and Member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers ( SNAME). Andy also maintains his auditing credentials as a certificated Maritime Auditor.
Sailing in the Merchant Marine, UK Merchant Navy, Andy started as Junior Engineer and worked through the ranks to Staff Chief Engineer with Cunard Line, completing fifteen years of seagoing experience.
In 1996, with a successful career move ashore, Andy began employment with the leading classification society Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LR).
In December 2008, A.M.Marine Surveys LLC commenced business offering quality Marine Surveys and Maritime Consultancy services.
Dr. Zuhair Ibrahim
Ph.D., P.E., CFEI
Dr. Zuhair Ibrahim is an accomplished expert in fire and explosion investigation, with a deep focus on structure, chemical, ship, and maritime related fires. His expertise is built upon an academic foundation, including a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering with specialization in Combustion, and Flame Dynamics, and a Masters in Management.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Dr. Ibrahim contributes to academia as a part-time lecturer at USC's Viterbi School of Engineering, teaching courses in Heat Transfer and Thermal Systems Design. This role allows him to share his extensive knowledge and experience with aspiring engineers.
Currently, he leads Ibrahim & Associates as its Principal, guiding the firm with over 15 years of experience in investigations and failure analysis. His career has been marked by many high-profile incident investigations and professional roles, including Managing Engineer at Exponent and Regional Director at LPI (SOCOTEC).
Dr. Ibrahim's credentials extend beyond academia and professional leadership; he is licensed as an engineer in multiple states and holds certifications in Fire and Explosion Investigation. His dedication to safety and best practices in fire and explosion investigation is further evidenced by his active participation in various committees within the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
